When our mac & cheese lovers talk, we listen. In 2016 we removed all artificial flavors,  preservatives and dyes from our Blue Box, Cups, and Easy Mac products. We know you want to feel good about what you eat and serve. This includes everything from improved nutrition to simpler ingredients.

Why is Kraft Mac & Cheese made with powdered Cheese Sauce mix?

Dried foods and ingredients, such as spices, beans and soup mixes, can maintain what you love while making preparation convenient. For our powdered Cheese Sauce Mix in Kraft Mac & Cheese, we start by making our own cheese. We then blend that cheese with other ingredients to make a cheese sauce that has one-of-a-kind taste you love. Then we use a food dehydrator –a much larger version than what you have at home– to remove the moisture from the cheese sauce and turn it into a dry powder. We believe convenience doesn't have to mean sacrificing Kraft & Cheese always delivers the same taste you know and love with 9 grams of protein and 10% daily value of calcium per serving.

Just curious, how much calcium is in Kraft Mac & Cheese?

Most of our products are a good source of calcium with 10% recommended daily value. Some products have more calcium, like Kraft Deluxe Mac & Cheese, with 15% recommended daily value, and Kraft Blue Box Shapes with 20% recommended daily value of calcium. And how much protein is in Kraft Mac & Cheese?

Phthalates are hard to say, are they also a concern?

Our goal at Kraft Mac & Cheese is to provide you with delicious meals you can feel good about serving and enjoying.

We do not add phthalates to Kraft Mac & Cheese. We are extremely rigorous in our food safety processes. We study every aspect of our mac & cheese recipes and production to ensure it meets all regulatory requirements before bringing a product to your grocery store and into your home.

The presence of phthalates is widespread and can be found in a variety of food and personal care products, even at trace amounts. This has been assessed by the US Food and Drug Administration and other authorities, such as the Centers for Disease Control. In one limited test of mac & cheese products, trace levels were found and were well below any cause of concern. Hundreds of servings of mac & cheese would need to be consumed daily over an entire lifetime in order to exceed levels determined as safe.  Like others in the food industry, we are continually working to learn more about how trace amounts of phthalates may be introduced into certain products and if there is anything else we can do to reduce or eliminate them.
